Just a bit of background…took my 2014 Kia Optima through a touch less car wash a few weeks ago and upon driving out, my CEL started flashing and the car went into limp mode. Had the car towed to my local mechanic who informed me of the P1326 code and I had it towed to a Kia dealership 50 miles away.The vehicles this service bulletin applies to are the (2011-2013) Kia Optima, (2014) Kia Optima, (2011-2013) Kia Sportage, and the (2012-2014) Kia Sorento. The affected engines are the 2.4 liter gasoline, and the 2.0 turbocharged gasoline (T-GDI). These same models are covered by the rod knock recall that covers 1.2 million vehicles.

The recall was started in 2018. At that time, a diagnostic trouble code (P1326 Knock Plausibility) specific to the knock sensor is recorded by the vehicle's computer. The vehicle will still run in what is called Limp Home Mode, but will accelerate slowly and have a reduced maximum speed.
