The smaller of the two black buttons that are on the lift gate will lock the car, so you can press the small black button to lock it up, and then press the lift gate close button, and it wont yell at you when you walk away.If you walk away too quickly, it will beep multiple times, letting you know the auto walk away lock will not lock. Try hesitating within two feet (or so) of the door, just long enough to hear the first single beep. The hatch has to be closed before you walk away if you want the car to lock.
