If you can get a distributer for free someplace, go for it. Pull coil wire out of cap and hold it 1/4 inch from good clean metal and rotate dist advance direction (opposite way rotor turns) until you get a spark. I think you will find dist will be in a different spot with electronic than points due to placement of pickup in dist.
